Yet
again the day started with a Starbucks, this time a Mocha Cookie Crumble then
it was back onto the road, pausing at the mission in San Luis Obispo before
heading to Shell Beach, just North of Pismo Beach.
After a quick explore of Pismo beach it was back onto the road where we headed inland to Santa Maria and found an IHOP just in time for brunch!
We
very excitedly settled into our booth and delved into the extensive menu of all
thing yummy. All of us decided on the combo where you get a stack of flavoured
pancakes (I opted for the peach slices) and bacon, eggs and hash browns, all
for around only $9.
Our
next stop after brunch was a wander around the Danish village of Solvang where
we walked off our IHOP and added more than half the stock of an incredible
antiques shop to the wish lists in our minds.
(My Top - Topshop, Skirt - H&M, Necklace - Primark, Flip Flops - Havaianas, Sarah's Dress - White Stuff)
Then
it was time to put up our feet in the nearby Rideau Winery and taste the local
delights, at a cost of $12 each mind.
The
next couple of hours lazied on by in a haze of sweet dessert wine and afternoon
summer sun.
We
then made a little detour up to Los Olivos/Santa Ynez Valley to see Michael
Jackson's Neverland Ranch.
We
spent the night in the closest, reasonable accommodation to Santa Barbara which
was in not so close Lompoc, in a Travelodge. Supper was at a amazing local Mexican called El Parmar. The deco may be basic but the food far from makes up
for it.
The Neverland Ranch wasn't quite as I expected with a lot of crazed fans support but also many sad and creepy comments...
