Today was the day I finally reunited with my best friend!!
She spent her 3 third year of university working in the US so I haven't seen
her in far too long. What better place to reunite than New York!
So my mom and I hopped on the first train into the city,
grabbed a Joe's and waited for Emily. There were rather loud and excited
squeals and hugs, it was like we had never been apart. After brief
introductions to our various companions it was off to the bustling Times
Square!
(Shirt - Primark, Jeans - Forever 21, Bag - Accessorize)
We then walked up 5th Avenue popping into the American Girl Place. If any of you guys are in New York you HAVE to go there. It blows your
mind.
These dolls are so beautiful and luxurious and the people
behind the scenes just think of everything; caravans, pets, Victorian styles,
wheelchairs, hair dressers, ear piercing and each doll is totally customisable.
We carried on wandering, managing not to buy anything,
gossiping away, through Central Park and into Eats on Lexington Avenue, Upper
East Side. It felt very Gossip Girl.
I went for the Seared
Ahi Tuna & Avocado BLT and we caught up on almost a years' worth of
adventures over Rose.
We
enjoyed a very long and relaxed lunch then it was onto the subway to Union
Square where we watched the street performers and took in the sights of the
food market.
We
ambled through SoHo, not forgetting to pop into D.A.S.H as we passed it and
before we knew it, it was time to head back to Grand Central and get the train back
to South Kent! I
had the best day with Emily and it is so nice having her back in the same
country again :)
By
the time we got back to the house one of my cousin's children was finishing
summer camp so I jumped into the truck for a tour of the area and to pick him
up.
The
rest of the evening was much like the previous with bedtime stories, lots of
cuddles and pleads that we could stay longer!
Do you have any tips to share on how to make the most of a day in New York?!
