I love Whinlatter forest. We get our Christmas tree from
there every year and it is the perfect place to explore for all ages and
abilities.

They have just had a Gruffalo trail which was absolutely
perfect for families. And big kids in our case! It's in an interactive trail
which tells the story of the Gruffalo and leads to some beautiful views.
I know it's for children but somehow we managed to miss the
Gruffalo (who is apparently 7 ft) at the end of the trail?! It was only around
until the end of February so this is
just in case you missed it like us ;)
To make ourselves feel better we wandered around Keswick
afterwards and enjoyed lunch at the new Wetherspoons which has just opened. It's
in the old courthouse and they have cleverly kept all the unique features such
as cells and the court sittings layout.
