It is week 3 of love walking and this week we got a little variety in the form of Walla Crag...
This field emerges onto a rocky path following the edge of the crag top with fantastic views over Derwent Water and before you know it you are at the top.
There is an option just after the top to make the walk a
little longer by going via Ashness Bridge or if you are happy to go straight
back you can follow the stone wall and head down the steep path that follows the
waterfall. The walk finishes with a quick stroll through more forest before
emerging out back in the carpark.
In total the shorter version takes around 2 hours and if you
are quick the longer version doesn't actually take much longer.
It's a good walk for those who like to see a lot along the
way and aren't into much of a steep ascent however at some points it does feel
a little like you are going in the wrong direction and not making much upward
progress!
All in all a successful progression into week 2 of love
walking. For something slightly easier try Sale Fell.
