Knysna was a very special stop on our journey up the Garden Route and would provide the base camp for the adventures further East over the next week or so.

Knsyna is where my parents came and hired a boat for their honeymoon, cute! So it was lovely that we got to spend some time there. The last time we came in winter and the weather couldn't have been nicer but this time in spring the weather was terrible. It was very windy (as is normal that time of year) but it also rained everyday we were there and there were thunder storms. Not ideal.
We didn't let it stop us though, ceasing a drier morning and the opportunity to drag mom onto a RIB with Knysna R I B Adventures. It was SO much fun. Our lovely boat driver (erm what do you call them?) gave us a tour of the bay and a little history before hitting the throttle through the infamous Knysna Heads and finishing off with some crazy turns much to my mother's dismay!
This meant it was definitely time for some food and one of our favourite places at the waterfront is the Falcon Creek Spur. They are just so good and really reasonable. Another place we loved eating was 34 Degrees South which is primarily a seafood restaurant but also has a deli and as you can see amazing sushi!
Another day we took a day trip up to Jeffrey's Bay where my dad used to surf back in the day. It is apparently much more commercial and not as charming but it is amazing to watch the surfers at Supertubes and by discounted surf brands at the factory shops.
We spent the rest of our time roaming the boutique shops including Two on Toast where I purchased that gorgeous graphic print top. Finally we took a walk up to the top of the heads which is really dramatic especially when the weather isn't so nice - makes it much more exciting!
I can highly recommend staying at the Knysna Quays self catering apartments. We always stay here as the location is perfect on the water and close to the shops and restaurants. The apartments are cute, clean and very well maintained.
