With my sister currently living
in Fife I have the perfect excuse to go up to stay for long weekends and
explore that area of Scotland.
It is a typical country village
with stone houses, upmarket pubs and of course Falkland Palace.

Our first morning we drove to
Balmerino Abbey and explored the local village, home window shopping as they
have to most amazing view over the river Tay.
The afternoon was spent
exploring Falkland and taking in as much of the outside of the palace as
possible. Unfortunately it is closed in the winter but we were satisfied enough
with the Christmas wreath placed on the outside of the gate.

Supper was enjoyed at The Covenanter opposite our cottage. The deco was a perfect mix of modern and traditional,
keeping a lot of original elements without being too quirky.
You can also read about my second day in the area, spent in Dundee.
Do you have any other recommendations in the Falkland area?
