Lunch at Ladore Falls, Borrowdale

One of my favourite things to do when I'm in Keswick is go for lunch at Ladore Falls Hotel.

Last weekend I had the perfect excuse when some family from Alaska came to visit.

We walked around the lake a little, stopping for a photograph opportunity at Friars Crag before hopping on the launch to the hotel which is towards the bottom of Derwent Water in Borrowdale.

I decided to give up meat for lent this year and this was the first time I had really been tested to make sure a chose a vegetarian option. There were only 3 options as the soup of the day had ham in it so I opted for the veggie burger with a Corona.

We sat in a table by the window in the cosy lounge which has views over the lake. The chips were absolutely gorgeous and the burger was nice, I think. I mean as far as a burger can be without meat. I kept expecting it to feel like a burger with each bite but then surprised myself when the texture was a bit carroty haha.

We sat for a long while longer catching up and sipping tea by the fire before heading back to catch the boat back to Keswick. The Launch isn't cheap (at around £4 each way) but it is a fun way to get around the lake. There is a different timetable for the winter too which you can read here.

We spent the rest of the afternoon in and out all the walking shops and window shopping home ware and antiques for our new house!

Have any of you been to the Ladore Falls hotel before? It also has spa that I've been to before which has a nice outdoor jacuzzi but I think it might be closed at the moment for a well needed cosmetic update...
