Myself and 2 of my besties decided to go for afternoon tea on Monday to celebrate being reunited. (and who really needs an excuse!)

Emily has just spent a month in South Africa with her boyfriend and I've been in Croatia so we all had lots to catch up on. Armathwaite Hall is the perfect place to go in the Lakes, situated on Bassenthwaite Lake and you can dress up making it the perfect girlie day out.

I went last year for my birthday but due to the worst hangover of my life I could barely eat anything so this time I made up for it! For £21 you get savoury treats including, cucumber sandwiches and mini quiches then a variety of scones, clotted cream and jam, cream cakes, biscuits, cakes and dessert wine and a mini dessert such a cheesecake or raspberry compote. There aren't a huge amount of teas to choose from but I'm an Assam fan anyway and we can all highly recommend the strawberries and cream tea.

Although the service wasn't particularly good this visit (I believe they were under staffed) it is normally excellent and when you book ask for the conservatory because that's where you get the view!

Where is your favourite place for afternoon tea?
